You can reach Planica by car, bus, bicycle, or on foot via well-maintained paths.
By car
From Ljubljana:
Take the A2 motorway towards Jesenice, exit Jesenice–West, then continue in the direction of Kranjska Gora and Rateče. In Rateče, follow the signs for Planica.
From Italy:
Cross the Rateče border crossing (Tarvisio), then follow the signs for Planica.
From Austria:
Cross via the Karavanke Tunnel or the Korensko Sedlo pass, then continue towards Kranjska Gora – Rateče – Planica.
Parking is available at the entrance to the Planica area.
By public transport
Buses run from major Slovenian cities to Kranjska Gora or Rateče.
From Kranjska Gora, Planica is approximately 7 km away (local transport or taxi options are available).
From Rateče, Planica is approximately 3 km away. Please note that there is no public transport connection between Rateče and Planica.

The nearest railway station is in Jesenice, from where you can take a bus to the village of Rateče.
On foot or by bicycle
Well-maintained walking and cycling paths lead to Planica from the directions of Kranjska Gora and Rateče.
From Kranjska Gora to Rateče, there is a pleasant, flat, and paved cycling route, suitable for recreational cyclists, families with children, and pushchairs.
From Rateče, the route is even shorter and also suitable for a short family walk.
From Rateče towards Planica, the path continues with a gentle, gradual ascent that remains suitable for most visitors, including families and recreational cyclists.
In the summer months, cycling is a very popular way to arrive. Bicycle racks are available at the centre, as well as free charging points for e-bikes, ensuring a convenient and sustainable visit.
The route passes through beautiful Alpine scenery and offers views of the Julian Alps and the valley of Planica.
The area is accessible year-round, but appropriate footwear and equipment are recommended depending on weather conditions.

During the summer season in the Kranjska Gora destination (15 June – 15 September), a free tourist bus operates, connecting key locations within the municipality, including Planica.
In the winter season, a ski bus service is available in the Kranjska Gora destination, offering free transport to and from Planica.
