Cross-country ski trails
Why choose the cross-country ski trails in Planica?
Because they offer excellently groomed trails for all skill levels, modern infrastructure, and a stunning setting in the heart of the Julian Alps.
25 km of cross-country ski trails
They stretch between Rateče, Planica, and Tamar and are interconnected. They are located at an altitude between 800 and 1,100 meters above sea level.
From November to early spring
The cross-country skiing season starts in mid-November, when approximately 2 km of the outdoor trail are prepared and connected to the indoor snow tunnel. As soon as temperatures drop below freezing, the trail is gradually extended using artificial snow. The season typically lasts until the end of March.
Floodlit cross-country ski trail
All trails are groomed daily (weather and snow conditions permitting). The cross-country ski trail in Planica is floodlit every day until 7 p.m., allowing you to enjoy the snow even after sunset.
Snow guarantee
During the summer, we store snow in a snow depot, which allows us to open the cross-country skiing season already in autumn.

For holders of last year’s season pass:
– 10% discount for adults on the seasonal pass (winter)

Prices include VAT. The season runs from 1 May 2025 to 30 April 2026.

The cross-country ski trails are groomed daily for both classic and skating techniques (weather conditions permitting).
The trail runs along the route Rateče (Italian border) – Rateče (Ledine) – NC Planica – Tamar.

Trail 2: NC Planica – Rateče (Ledine) – Rateče (Italian border) – 8.3 km
Trail 3: NC Planica – Tamar – 11.7 km

It is possible to purchase a seasonal pass online for new users or for existing users.

Seasonal pass purchase
(for existing users)
IMPORTANT: This purchase option is available only to existing cross-country pass holders who still have their PVC card and armband from the previous season.
When purchasing a seasonal pass, a 10% discount on the regular price is applied. After the purchase is completed, we will verify your details in the pass system and extend the validity of your pass.
From the date of purchase, your pass will be automatically extended for the new season, so there is no need to visit the reception.
If you wish to purchase a gift voucher, select the “gift” option above the calendar. An electronic gift voucher will be sent to your email address.
Seasonal pass purchase
(for new users)
IMPORTANT: Select this purchase option if you are ordering a seasonal pass for the first time. After completing the purchase, we will enter your details into our cross-country trail system.
On your next visit to Planica, please make sure to stop by the reception in the main building, where we will take your photo and add it to the system. You will also receive a PVC card and an armband, which you must always carry with you while using the cross-country trails.
We recommend that you keep your PVC card and armband safe for the next season, as they entitle you to a 10% discount on future purchases.
If you wish to purchase a gift voucher, select the “gift” option above the calendar. An electronic gift voucher will be sent to your email address. The recipient of the gift voucher should visit the reception on their next visit to Planica to receive their PVC card and armband.
Cross-country ski school
Join our cross-country ski school and, in the idyllic setting of the valley of Planica, take your first independent steps on snow or further develop your skills on more challenging terrain.
Our experienced cross-country ski instructors ensure high-quality lessons and will help you gain new knowledge in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
You can choose between individual lessons or group courses for both children and adults.
Cross-country equipment rental prices
Cross-country skiing equipment is available to rent here all year round. Equipment is available for beginners and experienced recreational skiers of all ages (classic and skating techniques).
